For Anupam Kher, awards are more than just trophies on a shelf. The 69-year-old actor said, "I love awards; so let me just get that out of my system. In my childhood, I was told that if you work hard at anything, you will get an award. I have received many awards. But for a film like Vijay 69, in my opinion, it's an international film with an international performance. It can compete with anybody."
the actor said, "But the local awards that are there are not necessarily based on competence or brilliance. When I didn't win the main awards for The Kashmir Files, which is one of my favourite and most brilliant performances, I started wondering, 'Who will get it?'. I'm not bitter about it."
"Having said that, if the same people who didn't award me for The Kashmir Files give me one for Vijay 69, I'll be happy. I'm not denying that. But I feel that since this film is on Netflix, which is a very popular and classy OTT platform, if people love it, which I am sure they will, that's a win."
Kher has often shared his thoughts on the value of recognition. With a career spanning nearly four decades and with over 500 films to his credit, the actor has earned countless awards and nominations, including National Film Awards and international accolades.
