OpenAI has announced a new feature for its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT. This new feature allows users to search their chat history, allowing them to quickly find the information they need from old chats. This is a significant improvement over the existing workaround, which required users to scroll through the entire chat history. Currently, this feature is only available on ChatGPT's web portal and is being rolled out to paid subscribers of the platform.
Chat History Search Feature in ChatGPT
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), OpenAI's official account announced this new feature. Users were waiting for a long time for the feature to search past chats, as old chats are stored but searching them was a difficult task.
With this new chat history search feature, users can now see a new magnifying glass icon on the side panel of ChatGPT web, which is on the left side of the window. Users can tap on this icon, which will open a text field where they can type in specific keywords to find a previous chat. This text field also shows recent chats, allowing users to select them directly without typing anything.
The feature is currently being rolled out to ChatGPT Plus and Team users. OpenAI also said that Enterprise and Edu subscribers will get the feature within a week. However, users with the free version will have to wait until next month to see the feature.
