Heart Health Tips: A weak heart can increase the risk of untimely death manifold. In such a situation, you can know from a heart surgeon what should be done to prevent it.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. The risk is not more or less based on age and gender, especially if you do not choose your lifestyle habits carefully.

Dr. Jeremy London, MD, a heart surgeon from Europe, who has been performing bypass heart surgery for blockage in the heart arteries for the last 25 years,  has told about 6 such things which he himself avoids to keep his heart healthy. Not only this, he has also told the reason behind this in detail to Today.com, which you can know here.

Alcohol-based mouthwash

Dr. London says that alcohol-based mouthwash can have a negative effect on blood pressure. It not only kills harmful bacteria, but also eliminates the good bacteria in the mouth, which prevent blood arteries from thinning.

Smoking and vaping

Smoking or vaping damages the lining of the blood vessels, increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke. In addition, high nicotine intake is responsible for increasing blood pressure.

Liquor

Dr. London says that he stopped drinking alcohol three years ago. He believes that alcohol is toxic for every cell. The World Health Organization also does not consider consumption of alcohol in any quantity to be safe.

Cold Drinks

Dr. London calls cold drinks 'liquid death'. Actually, it contains very high amount of calories, which is linked to the risk of heart diseases.

Food items made from refined flour

Dr. London believes that consuming whole grain products is better. Refined flour lacks fiber and essential nutrients, while whole grains help improve cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Ultra-Processed Foods

Consuming ultra-processed foods like cookies, chips, and pretzels increases the risk of heart disease and death. Experts believe that the longer the shelf life of these food items, the shorter your life becomes.
