Like last year, appliance manufacturers have seen an increase in air-purifier sales and inquiries in the last 2-3 weeks and this is expected to accelerate further with the rise in AQI in the coming weeks. Mahesh Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, Kent RO Systems, said India saw a significant increase in sales of air purifiers and filters during the winter months, which coincides with the decline in air quality.

He said the dangerous levels of pollution create a sense of urgent need among consumers to protect their health. He said that during the festive season we see a significant increase of about 20-25 percent in sales as consumers are more conscious about indoor air quality and their overall health.

How big is the air purifier market?

Xiaomi said that amid rising pollution levels, especially in the northern region, there has been a significant change in consumer behaviour, with greater focus being placed on health and clean indoor environments. Company spokesperson said that this has led to a sharp increase in the sales of our air purifiers and air purifier filters. This has been 50 percent more than last month. According to a report by EMR, the air purifier market in India will reach Rs 777.75 crore in the year 2023. It says that this market is expected to grow at the rate of 16.30 percent annually between 2024 and 2032.
