Kharna Prasad Kheer:The great festival Chhath Puja has started. Chhath is celebrated mainly in Bihar, Jharkhand. One can see the splendor of puja at every river, pond and ghat. Chhath is a great festival lasting for four days. Had to take bath yesterday. Today there is Kharna and then tomorrow i.e. on 7th and 8th November, Arghya will be offered to the setting and rising Sun God. Chhathi Maiya and Sun God are worshiped in this. Preparations for Chhath start several days in advance.

This is considered a very difficult fast. In Nahay Khay, pumpkin vegetable, gourd, gram dal and rice are prepared and eaten, while in Kharna, jaggery kheer is made. Ingredients to make Jaggery Kheer

➤Rice- one cup
➤Milk- one liter
➤Jaggery – one cup
➤Cardamom Powder
➤Ghee- 1 tablespoon
➤Dry fruits as per choice

Recipe for making jaggery kheer for kharna

➤To make jaggery kheer, first put milk in a pan and boil it.
➤Clean the rice thoroughly with water 3-4 times. If you want, soak it in water for 10 minutes and leave it.
➤When the milk boils, add rice to it and keep stirring. Now reduce the flame and let it cook.
➤Gradually the rice will cook and the milk will also start thickening. Add jaggery in low flame.
➤Add jaggery coarsely. Mix well. Now add dry fruits and cardamom powder into it.
➤Cook for two-three minutes. Turn off the flame. Delicious jaggery kheer is ready.
➤You always make sugar kheer during festivals, try eating jaggery kheer once.
➤Vratis consume this kheer on the day of Kharna.
