In a candid interview Anupam Kher opened up about the harsh realities he faced in the early days of his career. Rejection was a constant companion and with each dismissal he felt a deep sense of failure. He recalled a particularly difficult time when he was unable to pay his rent which led to his landlord throwing him out of his home. At that time Anupam shared a modest one-room apartment with his mother and brothers but even that small space couldn’t shield him from the crushing weight of financial struggle.
Without a roof over his head Anupam Kher found himself sleeping on the beach using a newspaper as his makeshift blanket. Despite the overwhelming challenges he never gave up on his dream.
Anupam also shared some revealing moments from his career on his talk show including a shocking episode from the filming of Mr. India (1987). He was initially cast to play the iconic villain Mogambo and had already begun filming. However in a sudden twist Anupam’s close friend Anil Kapoor had him removed from the project overnight and the role was handed over to the legendary Amrish Puri. Mr. India went on to become a massive success but Anupam Kher undeterred by the setback continued to build his career. From starting out with minor roles he has since acted in over 500 films establishing himself as one of the most respected actors in the industry.
