RAC Ticket: During the festive season, most people prepare to go home from their place of work. Especially on the occasion of Chhath, the number of people traveling by train increases a lot. The result is that one has to struggle a lot to get a seat and reservation on the train. In such a situation, those who have tickets in RAC also take a sigh of relief that they will get at least half a seat, but now even this half seat is in danger. Because now your RAC ticket can also become a waiting ticket. Indian Railways itself has given this information as that why they had to take such a tough decision on the occasion of the festival.
Crores of people are traveling.
During this festive season, the burden on the railways increases a lot. According to a rough estimate, about 2.3 crore people travel by train every day. This figure increases even more in this season. Those whose holidays get confirmed in time, get reservation done about sixty-sixty days in advance. Apart from the reserved ticket, an RAC ticket is also given. Which means Reservation Against Cancellation. This means that if someone cancels his confirmed ticket then you will get a reservation. Otherwise, your ticket will be called waiting. If it remains RAC then you will get half of a certain seat. If it is a waiting ticket then travel cannot be done on it.
Reason for RAC being converted to waiting
Often RAC tickets either get confirmed or travel is possible only in RAC. But during the festive season, confirmation of RAC is doubtful. Due to this RAC ticket gets converted into a waiting ticket. Many times such a situation also arises that a coach of the train is found unfit at the last moment before the journey starts. In such a situation, keeping safety in mind, that coach is removed. If another coach is not available in its place then there is a shortage of seats.
This is how RAC is affected.
Suppose a coach is unfit and a new coach is not available, then it can affect all RAC tickets. If an ICF coach is available, then tickets for only one coach go to RAC. Let us tell you that ICF has 72 seats in the sleeper class and 64 seats in the third AC. In the LHB coach, 80 seats in the sleeper and about 72 seats in the third AC are available. When the coach is available, only the passengers of the unfit coach are affected. During the festive season, railways also arrange for many additional trains. Currently, about seven and a half thousand extra trains are running. Most of the additional coaches are being used in these trains.
What is RAC and their number?
The full form of RAC is Reservation Against Cancellation. If a passenger cancels his ticket, then the ticket of the RAC passenger is confirmed in his place. Up to a dozen seats in a coach can be for RAC passengers. This number also depends on the size of the coach.
