In several states, financial institutions, including banks, will remain closed for four consecutive days from November 7 to November 10, 2024, due to the Chhath Puja festival. The closure coincides with the holiday falling just before the second Saturday and Sunday of the month.

For the occasion of Chhath Puja, Banks will be closed in Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand, and Bengal for Chhath Puja Evening Arghya on November 7, Thursday. 

November 8 (Friday): Banks will remain closed in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Meghalaya for the Chhath Puja Morning Arghya and Wangala Festival.

November 9 (Saturday): Banks will be closed across India for the second Saturday of the month.

November 10 (Sunday): Banks are closed as usual on Sundays

In other states, banks will remain open as usual on November 7 and 8, 2024. Cities such as Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Mumbai, and several others will not observe a holiday for Chhath Puja, according to the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) 2024 holiday schedule.

This year, in the month of November 2024, banks will remain closed for 13 days across various states due to public holidays. Here's a breakdown of the remaining holiday schedule this month:

November 12 (Tuesday): Banks in Uttarakhand will be closed for the Egaas-Bagwaal festival.

November 15 (Friday): Banks will be closed in multiple states for Guru Nanak Jayanti, Karthika Purnima, and Rahas Purnima. Affected states include Mizoram, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland, Bengal, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Srinagar.

November 18 (Monday): Banks in Karnataka will remain closed for Kanakadasa Jayanti.

November 23 (Saturday): Banks in Meghalaya will be closed for Seng Kutsnem.

With banking services increasingly moving online, customers can still carry out transactions on public holidays via net banking or mobile banking. Ensure you are registered for these services so that your banking activities continue without interruption, even when branches are closed in the area. However, when it comes to offline transactions, ATMs will remain operational.
