Mumbai: Bollywood celebrities Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal welcomed their baby girl on July 16, 2024, and shared the joyful announcement with fans a few days later, on July 20, via a heartfelt Instagram post.
Their Instagram post read, “Doing a collab post to announce the biggest collab of our lives!! We’ve been blessed indeed. Our baby girl continues to keep us very very busy. So Thank you all for your love and blessings.” While they haven’t yet shared photos of their daughter or allowed paparazzi to capture her, the couple recently revealed her name—Zuneyra Ida Fazal—in an exclusive interview with Vogue India.
Ali and Richa expressed the profound change parenthood has brought to their lives. Ali shared, “Having a baby fills a void you weren’t even aware existed. It’s amazing and tough—I feel anxious leaving home because I just want to be with her and Richa all the time.”
Richa mentioned she chose not to read too much on parenting, preferring to trust her instincts. “I avoid too much information so I can respond naturally. I observe what works for Zuni and me, and so far, it’s been rewarding,” she said. Ali added that his baby is already teaching him valuable lessons, which will influence his artistic expression. “She’s just two months old and already expressing so much. My approach to storytelling feels different now.”
The power couple have named their daughter, Zuneyra Ida. The name Zuneyra, or Zunaira, is derived from Urdu, meaning ‘Flower of Paradise,’ while her middle name, Ida, has German and Greek roots and means ‘hardworking.’
This thoughtful name choice highlights their wishes for the baby’s future marked by strength and grace.
The couple first met on the set of Fukrey and married in 2020 under the Special Marriage Act, holding a private ceremony due to the pandemic. In 2022, they celebrated with a larger gathering of family and friends.
On the career front, Richa Chadha recently starred in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Constitution: The Diamond Bazaar, streaming on Netflix. Meanwhile, Ali Fazal has several exciting projects lined up. He will appear in the period fantasy thriller Rakht Brahmand alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu, directed by Raj & DK. Additionally, he will star in Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino movie exploring modern relationships, which will also feature a star-studded cast, is set for release on November 29, 2024.
