The government is aiming to construct a multi-port switch for a single broadband antenna that can cover all 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G bands in an effort to forward the Bharat 6G Vision.
All of the bands, including 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, and more, may be covered by the developed technology in a single noise-free antenna.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT)’s telecom R&D center, the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), has partnered with the Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CEERI), Pilani, to achieve this objective.
The “Multiport Switch with Tuneable Impedance Matching Network for a Single Broadband Antenna” would be developed collaboratively by the institutes. The initiative is financed under the DoT’s Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) program.
This program is essential for the design, development, and commercialization of telecommunication products and solutions and is intended to finance Indian startups, academic institutions, and research and development centers.
It will concentrate on creating a switching network based on micro-electromechanical technology that can span many communication bands with improved antenna performance.
This is in line with the “Bharat 6G Vision” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government is now reviewing 470 ideas related to “accelerated research on 6G ecosystems” under this heading. Two next-generation testbeds have been financed by the DoT to further 6G research.
By 2030, PM Modi wants India to play a leading role in the design, development, and implementation of 6G technology.
The nation is rapidly developing 6G technology and is now in the lead for 6G patent filings after successfully implementing 5G nationwide in record time.
In the next three years, India can contribute one-sixth of global standards and earn 10% of all 6G patents, according to a government-led commission.
Last month, in the nation’s capital, the first International Telecommunications Union-World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (ITU-WTSA 2024) came to an end. With broad support from member countries, India has been successful in introducing novel resolutions and helping to amend those that already exist.
