India's pace bowling could prove to be one of the weakest links during the tour of Australia Down Under. Barring Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, the rest of the pacers are inexperienced. Siraj, who made his Test debut on the previous Australia tour, hasn't been at his best of late and his form is a concern for Team India.Prasidh Krishna has only played 2 Tests while Akash Deep has played 5 red-ball games. He hasn't played international cricket outside of India. Harshit Rana is uncapped in international cricket. Mukesh Kumar and Navdeep Saini are part of the India A squad but they weren't included in the Test team.Harshit has only played 10 first-class matches and his inclusion in the Test squad surprised one and all. The Times of India has provided a key detail behind Harshit's inclusion in the Test team and reported that Gautam Gambhir was adamant on his inclusion.The India head coach closely worked with Harshit at Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024. Harshit made it to the T20I squad for the Zimbabwe tour and then travelled to Sri Lanka with the ODI team. The series against SL was Gambhir's first assignment at the helm.The inexperienced pacer was also part of the T20I team for the Bangladesh series but missed out on making his debut due to viral fever. He travelled with the Test team during the New Zealand series.Harshit, who has 43 wickets in 10 first-class matches, made his red-ball debut in 2022. He has made quick progress and will have the pressure to live up to the expectations in Australia.The India-Australia Test series will kick off on November 22, with the series opener to be played in Perth.
