Taiwanese actress Vivian Hsu learned of her cancer during a routine health check-up earlier this year, while dealing with the emotional impact of her recent divorce.
As reported by Next Applethe diagnosis initially stunned Hsu, as she has always led a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and a balanced diet. However, she acknowledged a family history of cancer that may have played a role in her condition.
Hsu, 49, highlighted the importance of regular check-ups, noting that early detection enabled timely treatment, leading to a successful surgery. Since the procedure, she has focused on rehabilitating her throat and voice and has recently returned to public appearances, including promotions for her new film, “Ping Pong Boy.”

Hsu expressed that her young son has been her biggest source of strength during this challenging time. “My son is still so young, and I want to stay healthy to be there for his life milestones, ” she said. “As a mother, I need to be strong and won’t be easily defeated.”
One of Taiwan’s top actresses, Hsu is celebrated for her roles in “Love Storm”, “The Accidental Spy”, and “Long Zai Shaolin”. She has stayed active in entertainment, with recent film roles and music album releases.
Hsu, previously married to businessman Sean Lee with whom she shares an eight-year-old son, divorced in 2023. She described the separation as the hardest decision of her life, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
