According to a report, earlier the name of 'Kal Ho Na Ho' was going to be 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna'. However, after this, Dharma Production owner Karan Johar heard the song 'Aisa Milan Kal Ho Na Ho' from Kajol and Saif Ali Khan's film 'Hamesha' and changed his mind.
This film is also known for Preity Zinta's look. People liked his cute bespectacled avatar very much. Apart from this, Preeti's red dress was also much talked about. In a scene of the film where Preeti's character Naina tells Saif's character Rohit that she is in love with Aman i.e. Shahrukh Khan, in the subsequent scene Naina gets heartbroken. Preeti had once told that every time she shot that scene, something would happen. He said that either there would have been a problem with the rain machine or the shoot itself would have been cancelled. At one point she felt that her dress itself was Paauti.
In the film, Jaya Bachchan played the role of Naina's mother Jenny, nothing is known about Naina's father. But there is a scene in the beginning of the film where Naina tells about herself and in that scene we get a glimpse of her childhood where a slight glimpse of her father is shown. This character was played by Kal Ho Na Ho cinematographer Anil Mehta in the film.
According to a news, Shahrukh's children never saw the real ending of this film. This is the ending in which Shahrukh's character dies in the end. Karan had done a special edit for Shahrukh's children in which his death scene was cut.
