Aadhaar Card has become a very important document for us today. From opening a bank account to government schemes, Aadhaar card is necessary. Apart from this, you can also use it as a photo ID and address proof. According to UIDAI, Aadhaar card should be updated every 10 years. Currently, if you want to make any update in your Aadhaar card, then you can do it online for free from home.
The government has extended the date for updating Aadhaar card details online for free till 14 December 2024. If you also want to update any details in your Aadhaar card, then you should know about the rules issued by UIDAI before updating the details. You can change the name, address, mobile number and date of birth in the Aadhaar card. However, there are different rules for updating different details.
You can change the date of birth in your Aadhaar card only once. Apart from this, you can change the name only twice. However, UIDAI has not set any limit for changing the mobile number and address. You can change the address and mobile number in your Aadhaar card as many times as you want. However, some charge is levied by UIDAI for this. Currently this facility is free till 14 December 2024.
To change any details in Aadhaar Card, you will have to upload the supporting documents related to it. Without verification of supporting documents, no changes will be made in the details of your Aadhaar card. For example, if you want to update the date of birth in your Aadhaar card, then you will have to upload a birth certificate or high school mark sheet as a supporting document.
According to UIDAI, the request to update details in Aadhaar card gets approved within 30 days. However, it may take up to 90 days to update some details. If you face any problem in updating your details, you can contact UIDAI's helpline number 1947 or go to the nearest Aadhaar center and request again to change the details.
