The government of Haryana, under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has announced a new initiative to provide free land to low-income residents. Under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana, two lakh eligible residents in Haryana will receive 100 square yard plots for free to help them build homes.
Who is Eligible?
The scheme targets low-income families residing in rural areas of Haryana who do not own any land. An official statement mentioned that around five lakh people applied for the scheme, with two lakh individuals expected to receive plots in the initial phase.
Additional Financial Support
In addition to the free plots, the beneficiaries will also receive financial aid under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) to help them construct homes on these plots. J Ganesan, Director General of the Housing for All Department, stated that the scheme’s goal is to provide land to low-income families in the state, enabling them to achieve better living standards and build secure homes.
Infrastructure Plans
To support a quality lifestyle, the government has directed that all necessary facilities, including paved roads, electricity, clean drinking water, street lights, parks, and open green spaces, be provided in the designated areas for the plots. This comprehensive plan aims to create a safe and dignified environment for these families to settle.
Scheme Objectives
The Chief Minister emphasized that the scheme is a step toward improving the lifestyle of economically disadvantaged families in Haryana. With this initiative, the state government aims to ensure that families without their own homes have a secure place to live, furthering its commitment to housing for all.
