AB-PMJAY Scheme: More than 5 lakh elderly people of 70+ age have enrolled for the Ayushman card, know details

The highest number of applicants are from Madhya Pradesh, where 1.66 lakh people have applied under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. After Madhya Pradesh, 1.28 lakh people in Kerala, 69,044 in Uttar Pradesh and 25,491 in Gujarat have applied under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

This scheme was expanded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to include people aged 70 years or above. So far, more than five lakh requests have been received for enrollment under this scheme.

Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana was launched in the year 2018. Under this scheme, health insurance is provided to 55 crore people. Before the expansion of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, only poor families and other category workers, such as ASHA workers, were eligible under this scheme. Under this scheme, health insurance of Rs 5 lakh per family is given.

According to an official, "We have shared IEC (Information, Education, Communication) material with all the states. As the word spreads, we believe that more and more senior citizens will join it."

How to apply for this scheme?

The person who is eligible can apply for the scheme by visiting the official site www.beneficiary.nha.gov.in or through the Ayushman app.

According to the official, the process of applying for the scheme is simple. Under this process, the person has to verify his identity and eligibility through Aadhaar e-KYC. Using Aadhaar, the person can confirm his age and address. And this process is the only process to complete the registration process.
