"Aghadi fighting for Asatya, we are for Satya," Fadnavis dubs Maharashtra election as 'Dharamyuddh'
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 15 (ANI): Days ahead of the Assembly elections in Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has accused the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi of dividing society to gain votes stating that if their political opponents continue to cheat, then, they will be forced to respond with with an equal or stronger response "Eent Ka Jawab Patthar Se." Citing a Sanskrit shlok, Fadnavis reacted to his 'Dharmyuddh' remarks and said that the Mahayuti was fighting for 'Satya' to counter the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi's fight for 'asatya'.In an exclusive interview with ANI, Fadnavis said, "What is the concept of Dharmyuddh? "Yato Dharmastato Jayah" which means "Where there is Dharma, there will be Victory". This is our Dharmyuddh. They are fighting for 'asatya' and we have to fight for the 'satya'. We haven't ever asked Hindus to fight for Dharmyuddh, we said, we will fight for Dharmyuddh. There are only a few days left for the elections, who will go to the Election Commission, that will happen later." "These people (MVA) have divided the society to gain the votes. So that's why, when we fight in elections, then this is a fight, without any weapons or missiles and if the opponent continues to do cheating, then we will give answers to them. 'Ent ka Jawab Pathar se'. Look, we believe in Gandhiji a lot. We also believe in non-violence a lot. But we don't accept the fact that the people in front of us keep hitting us and we will keep watching it. We don't believe in such non-violence. If the person in front of us hits us, then they will give a befitting reply with stone" he said. Fadnavis also reacted to AIMIM's chief Asaduddin Owaisi's remarks on changing the name of Aurangabad to Sambhaji Nagar and affirmed that this land belongs to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and not to Razakars and hence the city is named so. When asked why politicians keep bringing Aurangzeb into the election rallies, he said, "It is Owaisi, who during his speech, said, how did you give the name of Sambhaji Nagar? What is the relationship of Sambhaji? When they say this land belongs to our Razakars, then I have to remind them that this land belongs to our ancestors, and this is not the land of the Raza-karas. The land belongs to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The land belongs to our ancestors. Raza-kars had taken over this land after committing atrocities against them." Fadnavis reiterated that "this is Sambhaji Nagar" and everyone was aware of the sacrifices Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has made and the atrocities that were committed against him by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. "We have to remind them. Everyone knows the history and the sacrifices Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has made. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was tortured by Aurangzeb for weeks, he asked him to change his religion but Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj did not accept to change his religion. He became a martyr. This is Sambhaji Nagar. If you come and say that we will make Sambhaji Nagar back into Aurangabad, how will you make it?" he said. Reacting to the opposition's remarks on the BJP's loss in the Ayodhya seat, Fadnavis said that losing an election on a mere seat of Ayodhya doesn't make any difference as people still want the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. "Losing and winning an election doesn't decide anything and Ayodhya is a mere seat of an election. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. What difference does it make? Does it mean that if we lose in Ayodhya, the people of Ayodhya do not want Ram Mandir? Does it mean that the people do not want the Ram Mandir? No. You can ask even today," Fadnavis said."I would like to ask a question again. How we will remain silent if Maha Vikas Aghadi will accept such demands of Ulemas that too by just accepting letters? This has been the mentality of the Congress to divide the country," Fadnavis said while referring to the purported letter allegedly written for support from All India Ulema Board to Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Campaigning has intensified for the 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra with both the ruling Mahayuti and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) making efforts to woo the electorate. The Maharashtra polls are scheduled for November 20 and counting will be held on November 23. (ANI)
