Palamu: Superstitions are still a part of our society and while a lot of them may just be beliefs, some are also extremely dangerous including black magic. In a horrific case of human sacrifice, a woman in Jharkhand's Palamu ‘sacrificed’ her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, cut her body into pieces and then ate her liver. The incident has sent shockwaves across the city; the woman has also been arrested for this brutal murder of her toddler daughter.
Gita Devi, a resident of Jharkhand's Palamu district has been arrested for killing her daughter as part of ‘human sacrifice’, cutting her body into pieces and then eating the baby's liver. The woman who is in police custody, has confessed to her crime. The brutal incident unfolded in Kharad village of Husainabad Thana area.
As per reports, the accused, during police interrogation, has confessed to the crime. The woman revealed to the police that she first went to a nearby market from where she bought bangles, clothes and other things required for the ‘pooja’. Later that evening, she went to the Sikni Barvadhora forest with her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter who was just a couple of kilometres away from her house.
According to the police, the woman removed her and her daughter's clothes, performed a ‘pooja’ and then in a naked state, danced for a while. After this, the woman killed her toddler daughter by slitting her throat with a knife; she then used the same knife to cut her daughter's body into pieces and then went on to sit and eat her ‘sacrificed’ daughter's liver.
The accused then buried her daughter in the ground and went back home in a naked state. Seeing her in that condition, the people around her informed her relatives; when the lady's mother-in-law asked her about her daughter, she confessed to killing her. The woman's husband works in New Delhi.
The woman was then arrested and also taken to the crime scene; as per Sanjay Kumar Yadav, the Police Station in charge, the toddler's mutilated body was found buried in a naked state.
She has confessed to learning black magic - witchcraft and also said that she had dreams that if she sacrificed her daughter or husband, she would achieve the mantra. This is when she took the grave step of ‘sacrificing her daughter'.
