If you want to get your children admitted under EWS in private schools in Delhi, then this news is of use. The Directorate of Education of Delhi has amended the income limit for admission of students of economically weaker sections i.e. EWS in private schools. The Directorate has increased this income limit from 1 lakh to 2.5 lakh rupees. Now thousands of families can benefit from this.
The income limit has been increased.
The Directorate of Education issued a notice through an official gazette and informed that the previous sub-section of the order of Delhi Schools Education has been amended and in its place a child whose parents' total annual income is less than 2.5 lakhs and are living in Delhi. That is, children whose family income is less than 2.5 lakhs can now get admission under the EWS category. Let us inform you that under the Right to Education (RTE) Act 2009, 25 percent of seats in private unaided schools are reserved for students of the EWS category.
Amendments have been made before this as well.
Earlier in 2004, the income limit for Delhi EWS was Rs 48,000 for girls and Rs 60,000 for boys, which was amended in 2005-06 to Rs 1 lakh for both (boys and girls). After this, on March 4, the Delhi High Court stayed the decision, which ordered to increase the income limit for eligibility under EWS from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
Now the income limit for eligibility under the EWS category has been temporarily set at Rs 2.5 lakh instead of Rs 5 lakh until further notice. The High Court order to increase the income limit to Rs 5 lakh came in December last year.
