Commenting on several matters during the event organized by Infosys Science Foundation, Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy said that US-India relations will remain as strong as ever. What we have achieved in economic growth is quite impressive. Narayan Murthy says that the economy is growing, but it is limited to urban areas. In such a situation, the challenge before us is to bring this growth to rural India.

How will development happen in rural areas?

Narayana Murthy told ET during a conversation that the way to bring growth in rural India is to bring good paying jobs there. If this is to be done then there is a need to focus on low tech manufacturing jobs.

This is because most of the people in rural areas are not very educated and IT services require skills. In such a situation, such jobs will have to be created for less educated people in which there is not much use of technology but the income is also good.

Why the need to learn from China?

Narayana Murthy said that if China has increased its economy five times, then they must have done something right. We should study their development, understand and then see how to implement in a good way? Unless low-tech jobs come to India, people will have to move towards urban India.

Narayan Murthy praised Nitin Gadkari

Narayan Murthy said that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has done excellent work. There are some visionary leaders like Gadkari and we should fully support those people. Rise above the party level in building such infrastructure in rural India and ensure that Indian and foreign investment goes to rural India so that more and more jobs are created there.
