Jharkhand Mukti Morcha suffered a setback before the second phase of assembly elections in Jharkhand. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MLA from Littipara assembly constituency Dinesh William Marandi joined BJP on Friday in the presence of Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Just hours after joining BJP on Friday, JMM expelled Dinesh Marandi from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha for six years.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha issued a letter to Dinesh Marandi in this regard. The letter said that the party had served him a show cause notice on Thursday, but he failed to respond within the deadline.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha said that Dinesh Marandi should be relieved from all posts of the party and it has been decided to expel him from the primary membership of the party for the next six years.
Regarding breaking his ties with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Marandi said that the party did not give him a ticket and even after that he was being threatened by the party. For this reason he has decided to leave the party.
He said that his father Simon Marandi was one of the founding members of JMM. He had worked for years to strengthen the party, but for the progress and development of Jharkhand he was forced to leave the party.
