Washington: According to a recent assessment by the UN Special Committee, Israel’s actions in Gaza were “consistent with the characteristics of genocide,” including the use of famine as a weapon and widespread civilian fatalities, CNN said.

Israel was accused by the UN Committee of “intentionally causing death, starvation and serious injury.”

“Through its siege over Gaza, obstruction of humanitarian aid, alongside targeted attacks and killing of civilians and aid workers, despite repeated UN appeals, binding orders from the International Court of Justice and resolutions of the Security Council, Israel is intentionally causing death, starvation and serious injury, using starvation as a method of war and inflicting collective punishment on the Palestinian population,” according to a report by CNN.

“The Israeli military’s use of AI-assisted targeting, with minimal human oversight, combined with heavy bombs, underscores Israel’s disregard of its obligation to distinguish between civilians and combatants and take adequate safeguards to prevent civilian deaths,” according to a CNN report.

The Times of Israel said on Friday that Israel had struck Hezbollah sites in Beirut on many occasions.

After evacuation warnings were given around 30 minutes before to the assaults, the missiles repeatedly hit Dahiyeh, a Hezbollah stronghold in the southern suburbs of Beirut, according to the Times of Israel.

According to a Lebanese person acquainted with the talks, CNN reported that Lisa Johnson, the US ambassador to Lebanon, submitted the idea to the Lebanese government Thursday evening (local time).

According to the person, authorities anticipate submitting an official response to the most recent proposal on Monday and are “optimistic” that Hezbollah will accept the parameters of the accord.

Following the October 7, 2023, Hamas assaults, Hezbollah started firing drones and rockets into villages in northern Israel on a regular basis. Over 68,000 people have been forced from their homes in northern Israel.
Leaders of Hezbollah have said again and again that they would carry out the assaults to prevent Israelis from going back to their homes.
