The rally, which began on November 8 at the Advance Landing Ground in Surankote, aimed to fill 307 vacancies for soldier general duty and 45 vacancies for clerks and tradesmen in the Territorial Army. The event was open to candidates from 31 tehsils across the Jammu division, including Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, and Jammu districts for the soldier general duty roles. Candidates from all over Jammu and Kashmir were eligible to apply for the clerks and tradesmen positions. “Over 26,000 eager candidates from the region participated in the 10-day selection process, demonstrating their physical and mental readiness to serve the nation,” said an official from the army recruitment office, praising the enthusiastic response from the youth.
  • With only three days remaining for the Maharashtra assembly elections, election officials and EVMs were transported by helicopters to base camps in the Naxal-affected Gadchiroli district on Sunday, according to police reports. Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Neelotpal stated that Mi-17 helicopters from the Indian Air Force were used to transport election officials assigned to 76 polling stations in the sensitive Aheri assembly constituency early in the day. He further mentioned that polling personnel, along with EVMs and other necessary equipment, were being dropped off at 14 base camps located at police stations for subsequent deployment.
