Several flights to and from Delhi were affected as high pollution levels, fog, and a thick layer of smog reduced visibility in the national capital on Monday.

In an X post, SpiceJet said its departures and arrivals may be affected and requested passengers to keep a check on their flight status.

Meanwhile, a video shared by news agency PTI showed smog in Delhi during the early hours of Monday.

On Sunday night, private carrier IndiGo said fog was affecting visibility in Delhi which could delay flight schedules, while Delhi airport operator DIAL put in place low visibility procedures.

“#6ETravelAdvisory: Fog is currently affecting visibility in Delhi, which may result in slow-moving traffic and delays in flight schedules," IndiGo wrote in a post on X at 11.44 pm.

In a separate post at 10.14 pm, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) said low visibility procedures are in progress at the airport and that flight operations were normal.
DIAL, which operates the Indira Gandhi International Airport that handles around 1,400 flight movements daily, also advised passengers to contact the airlines concerned for updated flight information. On Sunday, mercury in Delhi dipped to 27.2 degrees Celsius — the lowest daytime temperature of the season. At 8.30 am, the visibility was reduced to 300 metres at Safdarjung due to fog. The weather department had issued an orange alert for Monday and said the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to settle at 27 and 17 degrees Celsius.
