Uttarakhand: During his three-nation visit, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “popularity and strong leadership” after his receipt of Nigeria‘s national award. CM Dhami described it as a “proud moment” for India in a post on X on Sunday.
“A proud time! It is a great moment for all Indians that the honorable Prime Minister @narendramodi ji has been given the national honor of Nigeria, “The Grand Commander of the Order of Niger” (GCON),” CM Dhami remarked.
“This accomplishment demonstrates the esteemed Prime Minister’s widespread support and his capable and capable global leadership. Modiji’s foresight has given international relations a new direction,” he said.
During his visit, Nigeria presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON). Thus, PM Modi becomes the second foreign dignitary to be granted this distinction.
In 1969, Queen Elizabeth received the honor. This would be the 17th time that a foreign nation has given PM Modi an international honor of this kind. On Sunday, PM Modi wrapped off the first part of his three-nation trip in Nigeria.
Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Minister for the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja, gave PM Modi the “Key to the City” of Abuja and greeted him enthusiastically upon his arrival. The key represents the respect and confidence that the Nigerian people have placed in the prime minister.
PM Modi’s visit marks the first time an Indian prime minister has visited Nigeria in 17 years. As part of his November 17–21 three-nation visit that includes Nigeria, Brazil, and Guyana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for Brazil on Sunday night.
