According to an official, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Odisha branch, has created five unique books in the Santali (Ol Chiki) language to raise awareness of financial literacy among the tribal community. The pamphlets were distributed on Friday during Bali Jatra in Cuttack by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
According to the official, the booklets were created to mark the 90th anniversary of the RBI’s establishment in the nation. The central bank also recently hosted a number of activities, such as a student quiz contest.
“The RBI, Bhubaneswar, has taken the initiative to translate and print the five helpful target-specific booklets in Santali (Ol Chiki script) for distribution among the people of Santali speaking community, in keeping with the efforts towards financial education,” a senior official said.
“In order to raise awareness about financial products and services, good financial practices, going digital, and consumer protection, the RBI has prepared booklets for schoolchildren, farmers, entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and senior citizens,” he stated.
According to him, the pamphlets would also be distributed in other states with sizable populations of Santali speakers, including Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura.
