Iyer missed IPL 2023 due to an injury.Iyer made a dream return in IPL 2024 and ended KKR's decade-long wait to win the IPL title. KKR's head coach Gautam Gambhir, Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate left the franchise to join Team India's coaching staff.
