On November 19, Algerian Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui was kept in place after Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced a reorganization of the administration.

According to the Xinhua news agency, the reshuffle occurred because the Constitution requires the cabinet to step down before a new administration can be appointed.

Samir Aggoune, the president’s spokeswoman, said in a statement that was broadcast on state television that Tebboune accepted Larbaoui’s resignation from the cabinet earlier in the day.

The statement claimed that Tebboune, who is also the minister of national defense and the supreme commander of the Armed Forces, reaffirmed his faith in Larbaoui and gave him instructions to carry out his responsibilities.

In addition to new secretary of state for African Relations, National Community Abroad, Mines, and Renewable Energies, the reshuffle also brought in a new industry minister, a new international trade minister, and a new delegate minister to the Minister of National Defense.

A Ministry of Domestic Trade was also established.

After receiving 84% of the vote in the last presidential election, Tebboune was inaugurated in for a second term on September 17.
