New Delhi: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored Lakshmibai Newalkar, the Rani of Jhansi, on the occasion of her birth anniversary. PM Modi stressed in a post on X that future generations would be inspired by her courage and hard work.

“Happy Jayanti to the brave Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, a living example of bravery and loyalty. Generations have been inspired by her courage and her efforts in the struggle for independence. The Prime Minister said, “Her leadership in the face of hardship demonstrated what true determination is.”

Laxmibai was hailed as a “epitome of unmatched heroism and valour” by Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, who also paid his respects to X.

“On the anniversary of her birth, we pay tribute to Laxmibai ji, the legendary warrior queen of Jhansi, who battled against British rule in the First Indian War of Independence in 1857 with unwavering bravery and heroism. She embodied unparalleled bravery and courage. Such outstanding individuals’ commitment, kindness, patriotism, and sacrifice are admirable,” Kharge said.

Additionally, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari praised Rani Laxmibai, who embodies unmatched bravery and tenacity.

On X, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai posted a tribute to Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, the heroine of the Indian liberation movement, on the occasion of her birth anniversary.

Former Union Minister and BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that Rani Laxmibai has inspired and would continue to inspire generations.

We honor Rani Laxmi Bai on the anniversary of her birth as a brave warrior who bravely and resolutely battled for independence and honor. He said on X, “She has inspired and continues to inspire many generations of Indians.”

“Respectful salutations on the birth anniversary of Rani Lakshmibai, the great heroine of the first freedom struggle and the epitome of indomitable courage,” said Congress politician Randeep Surjewala in a tribute. She gave her life to ensure the nation’s independence. Future generations will always be motivated by her sacrifice.

Known as the Queen of Jhansi, Rani Laxmibai was a key figure in India’s first battle of independence (1857–58).

Born on November 19, 1828, she was one of the main leaders of the Indian Rebellion of 1857.

In 1858, Rani Laxmibai lost her life in the Kotah-ki-Serai area, close to Gwalior, while battling the British colonial overlords.
