A remarkable act of honesty unfolded in the Lalaguda area of Hyderabad on Monday, November 18, when Satish Yadav found a bag containing Rs 2 lakh cash on the road. Rather than keeping the money, Yadav, a lineman with the local electricity department, immediately took the right step and returned it to the police, sending a powerful message about integrity and responsibility.

The incident occurred when Yadav, who had just finished his regular duties, was walking back home. As he made his way through the area, a motorcycle sped past him, and in its wake, a bag fell to the ground. Without hesitation, Yadav stopped and picked up the bag. He quickly scanned the surroundings in an attempt to locate the motorcyclist, but by the time he looked around, the rider had vanished from the scene.
Upon inspecting the contents of the bag, Yadav was stunned to find a large sum of money – an amount totalling Rs 2 lakh in cash. Initially taken aback by the windfall, Yadav’s first instinct wasn’t to pocket the money, but rather to act by his moral compass. He understood the responsibility that came with finding such a large sum and immediately decided to do the right thing.
Yadav took the bag straight to the nearby Lalaguda police station, where he handed it over to the authorities. “I didn’t think twice. It wasn’t my money, and I knew I had to return it," Yadav said, explaining his decision.

When he arrived at the police station, officers were quick to commend his honesty and sense of duty. Police officials expressed their admiration for Yadav’s actions, noting that his gesture sends a powerful message of integrity and responsibility to the wider community. “In today’s world, such acts of honesty are rare, and it’s heartening to see citizens like Satish taking the right step. His action is a reminder that individual responsibility plays a key role in building a more ethical and compassionate society," said a police spokesperson.

The police also emphasised that if everyone in society took such positive actions, it could lead to a significant strengthening of societal values, encouraging honesty and trust among citizens.
