This time Jeddah in Saudi Arabia has been chosen as the venue for the IPL 2025 mega auction. The players will be auctioned on 24th and 25th November at the Abadi Al Johar Arena in Jeddah. The auction will start at 12.30 pm local time and 3.00 pm Indian time, which will last for two days. At the same time, all the people participating in the auction will stay at Hotel Shangri-La, which is just 10 minutes away from this arena.
A total of 1,574 players had registered for this auction. Out of these, 574 players have been shortlisted by the IPL Governing Council. This means that bids will be placed on only 574 players in the auction, out of which 366 are Indian and 208 are foreign players. At the same time, a team can include a maximum of 25 players in its squad and it is also necessary to make a squad of at least 18 players. In such a situation, all the teams have already retained 46 players, due to which only 204 slots can be filled during the auction.
This time the purse of all the teams for the auction is Rs 120 crore, out of which the teams have also spent some money in retaining the players. In such a situation, they will now make purchases in the auction with the remaining purse. Punjab Kings has the biggest purse, because they have retained only 2 players. They will come to the auction with Rs 110.5 crore. At the same time, Royal Challengers Bangalore has Rs 83 crore, Delhi Capitals has Rs 73 crore, Lucknow Super Giants-Gujarat Titans have Rs 69-69 crore, Chennai Super Kings has Rs 55 crore, Kolkata Knight Riders has Rs 51 crore, Mumbai Indians-Sunrisers Hyderabad have Rs 45-45 crore and Rajasthan Royals has Rs 41 crore.
Punjab Kings team currently has 23 slots vacant, out of which it can buy 8 foreign players. Royal Challengers Bangalore will try to fill 22 slots including 8 foreign players. Delhi Capitals has 21 slots (7 foreign), Lucknow Super Giants has 20 slots (7 foreign), Gujarat Titans has 20 slots (7 foreign), Chennai Super Kings has 20 slots (7 foreign), Kolkata Knight Riders has 19 slots (6 foreign), Mumbai Indians has 20 slots (8 foreign), Sunrisers Hyderabad has 20 slots (5 foreign) and Rajasthan Royals has 19 slots (7 foreign) vacant.
The IPL 2025 mega auction will start with the marquee player set. This time two marquee player sets have been created. The first set of marquee players includes Jos Buttler, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh and Mitchell Starc.
