On Tuesday, Quang completed the paperwork and signed off on the sale of his 138 square meter house in Ho Chi Minh City for VND5 billion (US$196,754).

“I am sad to sell this house, which is full of memories, because I am in such a financial bind,” he stated. “This is the place that marks my growth from the moment I moved out on my own, experiencing the feeling of borrowing money from the bank, teaching and recording for 14 hours a day to pay off debts.”

Quang explained that he urgently needed money, leading to the quick and reasonably priced sale of the house. He attributed his financial woes to his hotel on Phu Quy Island in the Central Vietnam province of Binh Thuan, which was severely damaged by a recent major storm. The current low season and lack of tourists have resulted in no revenue.

“Despite the difficulties, I still want to invest and renovate the hotel to make it more beautiful,” he shared with Ngoi Sao. “To ease the burden on my staff, I decided to sell the house to hire labor and buy materials. Life has its ups and downs, we just have to endure.”

Quang noted that he would not have sold the house, which he had owned for eight years, if his financial situation had been better.

“I know that once I sell this house, there will be no way to buy it back,” he remarked. “From this point, I no longer own any property in Ho Chi Minh City and have to start anew, living in my wife’s house.”

Quang explained that he would move into a property that Ngan 98 purchased herself after selling his house. Due to his financial challenges, Quang has postponed his wedding with Ngan 98 until 2026. Previously, the couple had taken wedding photos in Vietnam and France and had planned to host a reception this year to celebrate with family and friends.

The composer mentioned that he and Ngan 98 have maintained financial independence throughout their relationship, with clear financial responsibilities.

“Each person is responsible for their own business affairs,” he commented. “I have already borrowed a lot from Ngan, so I decided to sell the house now to cover everything and reduce life’s pressures.”

Quang launched his career in 2000 and gained recognition after consecutively winning the audience’s favorite song award at the “Bai Hat Viet” (Vietnamese Song) program in 2005 and 2006 with two songs he composed and performed himself. He has also won the Favorite Composer award at the Lan Song Xanh (Green Wave) awards three times.

He and Ngan 98 have been together for seven years, announcing that they had officially registered their marriage in July this year. Throughout their relationship, the couple has endured several conflicts, breakups, and reconciliations.

Currently, Quang manages and supports Ngan 98 in her career. The couple recently completed an extended tour in the U.S.
