Indian channels showing news of massacre of Hindus in Bangladesh will be punished, Yunus government reaches High Court

New Delhi. Hindus are continuously being targeted in Bangladesh. The miscreants are sometimes damaging temples and sometimes their houses. Recently, well-known Hindu leader Chinmay Krishna Das was also arrested. There is continuous tension here since the arrest. Now Indian channels are also going to be punished for raising their voice for minorities. A writ petition has been filed in the High Court here, in which concern has been expressed over the increasing influence of Indian media on Bangladeshi culture and society. Not only this, there has also been a demand to ban the broadcasting of Indian TV channels.

Demand for ban under this act

Advocate Eklas Uddin Bhuiyan, who filed the petition on Monday, has requested to ban the telecast of Indian TV channels under the Cable Television Network Operation Act 2006. It has also been asked why a rule should not be issued directing ban on Indian TV channels in Bangladesh.

He was made the defendant

A bench of Justice Fatima Najeeb and Justice Sikdar Mahmudur Razi is likely to hear the petition. The petition has named the secretaries of the Information Ministry and Home Ministry, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and others as respondents.

Demand to ban broadcasting of these channels

According to Dhaka Tribune, there is a demand to ban Indian TV channels like Star Jalsha, Star Plus, Zee Bangla, Republic Bangla. Does it. It has been alleged in the petition that inflammatory news is being shown on Indian channels and the content opposing Bangladeshi culture is having a negative impact on the youth. Furthermore, it has been alleged that these channels are being run without following any rules. Notably, Bangladesh has seen an increase in violent attacks against Hindus and other minority groups, leading to calls for greater protection and support.
