Australia women's cricket team all-rounder Annabel Sutherland created history by scoring a brilliant century against the New Zealand women's team on Saturday (21 December) during the second ODI match at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. Sutherland, who came to bat at number five, played an unbeaten inning of 105 runs in 81 balls with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes. With this century innings, Sutherland made a unique record.

23-year-old Sutherland got a lease of life in the 48th over on a personal score of 67 runs, after which he completed his century in 78 balls by scoring 33 runs in the next 11 balls. Sutherland had earlier played an inning of 110 runs in the two ODI matches played against India in Perth. She has become the first cricketer in the 51-year history of women's ODI to score a century while batting at number 5 or below.

Apart from this, she has become the second youngest cricketer after Mag Lanning to score three ODI centuries for Australia.

When Sutherland came to bat, Australia's score was 107 runs at the loss of 3 wickets, after which Beth Mooney was also out for 110 runs. Sutherland then made a half-century partnership with Ashley Gardner (19) and Tahlia McGrath (34). Sutherland completed his half-century in 55 balls in the 42nd over. After this, he completed the next 50 runs in just 23 balls. On the basis of Sutherland's innings, Australia scored 291 runs in the stipulated 7 overs.
