December 21, New Delhi With the correct foreign policy in place that avoids interfering in the affairs of other nations while maintaining a neutral posture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has all the makings of a world peacemaker, Erik Solheim, the former Minister of Climate and Environment for Norway, said on Saturday.

The seasoned diplomat said in an exclusive interview with IANS that under PM Modi, the nation’s foreign policy is primarily focused on protecting Indian interests abroad without interfering in their domestic issues, which is the morally just course of action.

“India is not meddling in the domestic affairs of any nation, particularly the US. India is just looking out for its own interests, which is the ideal strategy under PM Modi 3.0. This strategy creates a world that is much more stable and peaceful,” Solheim said.

He said that there is a need for international peacemakers in the current geopolitical climate, particularly in light of the continuing tensions in the Middle East and Russia-Ukraine.

One leader who is impartial and capable of maintaining peace is Prime Minister Modi. The Norwegian ambassador emphasized that PM Modi can undoubtedly play a larger role in bringing an end to the Russia-Ukraine conflict by 2025.

Mark Mobius, a renowned international investor, told IANS in November that PM Modi is deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts and that he is able to engage in discourse with people from all political backgrounds on a global scale.

As the globe experiences turmoil, particularly with the continuing Russia-Ukraine war and the present West Asian crisis, 88-year-old Mobius said in an interview with IANS that PM Modi might play a significant role in promoting peace.

Regarding the Indian economy’s resiliency, Solheim predicted that domestic growth will catch up to that of the US economy by 2050.

“India is now seeing tremendous progress in a variety of areas. India would most likely achieve that target by 2050 if it can maintain annual economic growth of around 7%,” Solheim told IANS.
