Melbourne, the capital of the Australian state of Victoria, saw a shooting that left one man dead and two others wounded.
At 10:10 p.m. local time on Friday night, police were summoned to a property in Campbellfield, which is 15 km north of downtown Melbourne, after receiving allegations that a man had been shot.
Officers discovered a 60-year-old male with serious, perhaps fatal injuries when they arrived on the scene.
According to the Xinhua news agency, he was taken to a neighboring hospital and passed away there.
Two guys, ages 20 and 22, are being guarded by police in a hospital, Victoria Police said in a statement on Saturday morning.
According to the statement, the two males were taken to the police after being taken to the hospital with injuries, and they will be questioned about the incident.
“At this stage, it is believed the incident was targeted and the people involved are known to one another,” police said.
At the premises, homicide squad detectives have set up a crime scene; as the investigation continues, further information is pending.
Two Australian adolescents were taken into custody in a different incident earlier on December 12 after police suspect them of being connected to a vehicle fire, accident, and gunshot in western Sydney.
Officers reacted to reports of gunshots at a barbershop in Mount Druitt, around 40 kilometers west of downtown Sydney, at around 2:20 a.m. local time on Thursday, according to a statement released by police in the Australian state of New South Wales, according to Xinhua news agency.
When officers arrived, they discovered many gunshot holes in the storefront glass.
The incident was reported soon after two 17-year-old teenagers were taken into custody by police at the scene of a car accident in a nearby area.
