Days after his abduction made headlines, “Welcome” star Mushtaq Khan made his first public appearance. The actor said that while traveling from Mumbai to Delhi for an occasion, he was abducted. The event happened on November 20. He told the authorities and was able to escape his kidnappers. The actor was seen at the launch of “Vanvaas,” directed by Anil Sharma, on Friday night.
At the ‘Vanvaas’ screening, which starred Utkarsh Sharma and Nana Patekar in the key roles, Khan showed up wearing a basic shirt and trousers. Before entering the arena, he posed for the photographers.
On November 20, the 54-year-old was invited to a phony event in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, and he recounted the horrifying events. In his Jogeshwari studio in Mumbai, he recounted the experience, saying, “It seemed convincing because I was given an advance amount and flight tickets.” I was instructed to be the principal guest at an awards ceremony. I spoke to comedian and actor Sunil Pal, and he told me that a similar event had occurred to him as well. “We artists ask them for the budget and the advance amount is transferred as an assurance,” Khan said, “so I fell for it without verifying.”
He said that he was driving from the Delhi airport to Meerut and subsequently to Bijnor. I realized things were serious when I was being held at gunpoint by two individuals. They changed automobiles, and this occurred in Meerut.
Khan spoke about how he escaped when his captors were sound asleep. At 5:45 a.m., he heard the sound of azaan, which led him to visit the closest mosque. “They even transferred ₹1.24 lakh from my bank account and ₹1.06 lakh from my son’s account for their expenses,” he said.
Mohsin, Khan’s son, said, “My father started making phone calls after a local family picked him up from the mosque and brought him to their home. A family friend picked him up from Ghaziabad and brought him to Bijnor. We were considering filing a formal complaint because we believed they might hurt him. He unlocked the door, descended two stories, and made his getaway. He inquired about the closest masjid after hearing the Azaan call.
Six persons have been taken into custody in this investigation thus far.
