I'm A Celebrity's Richard Coles leaves TV host speechless with real-life spy story

Reverend Richard Coles, who recently graced I'm A Celebrity, caused quite a stir on TV when he revealed that his brother was previously a spy.

The former Communards band member, having secured third place in the popular series behind and winner Danny Jones, dropped the bombshell during his appearance on The Last Leg on Friday night (December 20).

Richard divulged that he's only just begun to uncover his brother's enigmatic past as host Adam Hills brought up Prince Andrew's severance from an alleged Chinese spy. In the midst of the discussion, Richard chimed in with the startling admission: "My brother was a spy."

Adam, visibly taken aback, pushed for clarity on how Richard could disclose such information on . A composed Richard replied: "He's retired now. He was a spy cop in the 1980s that's subject of an inquiry at the moment."

Richard then painted a picture of past Christmases disrupted by his brother's undercover responsibilities, recalling: "He'd turn up for looking like he just stepped out of his undercover role with shaggy hair and piercings rather than the bowties you'd see in European casinos."

The revelation prompted a flabbergasted Adam to probe further, asking who his brother had been infiltrating. With a hint of secrecy, Richard responded: "I don't think I'm at liberty to say," reports .

Adam could only exclaim, "Oh my goodness," in response. Alex Jones, sitting alongside as a fellow guest, took the chance to grill Richard on what his brother had shared about his cloak-and-dagger exploits.

Richard confessed: "He's told me nothing about it," and added, "But I'm learning about it from the public inquiry."

He further stated: "He was put into various groups which were identified as being dangerous."
