The annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) is held annually in January in Davos. The meeting takes place in Davos, Switzerland, a small ski resort near Zurich. Business leaders, politicians, journalists, economists, and celebrities from all over the world participate in this meeting. The purpose of all these is to discuss global economic and social challenges and find solutions to them.
At least three chief ministers – Devendra Fadnavis, Chandrababu Naidu and Revanth Reddy – will join over 100 CEOs and other leaders from India for the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting-2025 in Davos next month. Naidu will also be joined by his son and Andhra Pradesh minister Nara Lokesh for the five-day annual conference starting January 20, 2025, in the Swiss ski resort town. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Tamil Nadu Minister TRB Raja and Uttar Pradesh Minister Suresh Khanna will also be present there.
Some senior Union ministers are also expected to attend the meeting, but their names are still being finalized. Ashwini Vaishnav, Smriti Irani and Hardeep Singh Puri had attended the last annual meeting of WEF on behalf of the Central Government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also participated in this meeting earlier, but no official statement has come yet regarding his participation in this high-level summit. This time the main theme of the summit will be 'Collaboration for the Intelligent Age'.
About 50 heads of state and government from around the world are likely to participate in this annual meeting. The meeting is being held in the backdrop of regime change in the US and various geopolitical and macroeconomic issues including the Ukraine war and the West Asia crisis. Modi as Prime Minister of India and Donald Trump as US President participated in the WEF annual meeting for the first time in 2018.
Earlier this year, Modi became the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive time, while Trump is going to take office for the second time on January 20 and his return could be one of the major topics of discussion in Davos. Maharashtra Chief Minister Fadnavis and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Naidu have visited Davos several times, while Telangana Chief Minister Reddy also attended the WEF annual meeting in January 2024. Apart from government leaders and civil society members, top executives from business conglomerates from India such as Reliance, Tata, Adani, Birla, Bharti, Mahindra, Godrej, Jindal, Bajaj and Vedanta will be attending.
