Shafali Verma has been enjoying a purple patch in domestic cricket since getting dropped from Team India. The opening batter was dropped for the Australia tour and wasn't handed a recall for the ongoing series against West Indies. One of the most aggressive batters in women's cricket, Shafali has sent a reminder to the selectors by scoring heavily in domestic cricket. The Haryana captain shattered records and etched her name in history books in the league stage match against Bengal. Shafali smashed 197 off 115 balls in the group stage match of the Senior Women's One-Day Trophy. Her knock included 11 sixes and 22 boundaries.Shafali, who missed out on scoring a double-century by just three runs, created a huge record and became the Indian batter with the most sixes in a List A game. She is now the only Indian to hit more than 10 sixes in an innings in a women's List A game.Interestingly, she also holds the second spot in Indian cricket. Shafali hit 9 sixes for the North Zone women in the Inter-Zonal One-Day competition in early in 2024.Courtesy of Shafali's knock, Haryana registered a huge total of 389/5 on the board. Sonia Mendhiya also played her part in Haryana's big total and scored 61 off 41 balls. However, their efforts weren't enough as Bengal created history by chasing down the target in 49.1 overs. Bengal now hold the record for scaling the highest chase in the history of women's List A cricket.T Sarkar played a brilliant 113-run knock of 83 balls while P Bala scored an unbeaten 88 off 81 balls in the chase. Shafali, who shone with the bat, struggled with the ball and went for 72 runs in her 10-over spell. She didn't take a wicket.Shafali will hope to earn a recall to Team India following her solid performance in domestic cricket. She has played 5 Tests, 29 ODIs and 85 T20Is since her debut in 2019.
