He was such a filmmaker of Hindi cinema, who was obsessed with presenting good stories on screen. He started his career as a director in the year 1974 with the film 'Ankur'. After that he went on showing his magic on the silver screen.

After 'Ankur', he made many great films like 'Nishant', 'Manthan', 'Kalyug', 'Well Done Abba'. Apart from the silver screen, he also showed his artistry on the small screen. He had made many such TV programs, for which his name is immortal even in the world of TV.

He made his TV debut 12 years after entering films. In the year 1986, he made his first TV show named 'Yatra', which was a travel based series. There were 15 episodes of this show. It was filmed on the Himsagar Express, a train running on India's longest railway route.
