Om Prakashs cinematic journey spanned over five decades during which he was seen in around 310 films. His remarkable comic timing mimicry and brilliant expressions made him a household name. He starred in numerous hit films including Dil Daulat Duniya Gopi Apna Desh Chupke Chupke Julie Joroo Ka Ghulam Aa Gale Lag Jaa Pyar Kiye Jaa Padosan and Buddha Mil Gaya.

Dilip Kumar one of the nations greatest actors once spoke highly of him. He recalled a moment when he felt nervous working alongside Om Prakash. Dilip Kumar confessed that he had never felt uncomfortable in front of any actor before but there was something about Om Prakashs character that made him feel small. He said I was only afraid once in my acting career and it was during Gopi when Om Prakashjis performance overshadowed mine.
He played the role of a father to Amitabh Bachchan and Jeetendra
Om Prakash was known for playing many different roles throughout his career. In fact he played the role of a father to some of the biggest stars including Amitabh Bachchan and Jeetendra. One of his most memorable performances was in Alaap a touching father-son story directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. In this film Om Prakash played an estranged father to Amitabh Bachchan. Similarly in the 1967 film Parivar Om Prakash portrayed Jeetendra’s father Karamchand.
Om Prakash suffered a severe heart attack at his home and was quickly taken to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. While there he suffered a second heart attack and fell into a coma. Later he passed away on February 21 1998.
