The police has exposed the fake marriage racket where people flee with money and jewellery after promising to marry them. A woman who had already married six times was preparing for her seventh marriage when she was caught by the police.

The number of women who target men who are worried about not getting a girl despite being close to marriage and then cheating them is increasing recently. The police has arrested a cunning woman who used to cheat many such people in the name of marriage. This is a big gang, which includes two women and many men, who have been arrested by the police. This incident happened in Banda, Uttar Pradesh. The arrested woman has done six marriages and in all the marriages so far, she used to run away after stealing money and jewelry from the in-laws' house. Now, she was preparing for the seventh marriage in the same way, when she was caught by the police. Banda's Additional Superintendent of Police Shivraj gave this information.

According to the police, out of the two arrested women, Poonam used to pose as a bride, while the other woman Sanjana Gupta used to pretend to be the bride's mother. Two other men involved in this gang, Vimlesh Verma and Dharmendra Prajapati, used to find unmarried boys looking for girls for marriage and introduce them to Poonam. Not only this, Vimlesh Verma and Dharmendra Prajapati used to take money from the boys in exchange for finding a bride. After this, a simple court marriage used to take place. After marriage, the bride Poonam used to go to the groom's house. There, after winning the trust of the groom, she used to run away from the house with money and jewelry when she got the chance.

Earlier also these people have escaped six times by pretending to get married and then stealing from houses. They were preparing for their seventh marriage when they were caught by the police. A person named Shankar Upadhyay had filed a complaint against Poonam and her gang. According to him, Shankar was unmarried and was looking for a girl for marriage. During this time he met Vimlesh, who told Shankar Upadhyay that you will get married, but you will have to pay Rs 1.5 lakh. Shankar Upadhyay agreed to this.

On Saturday, this marriage broker Vimlesh called Shankar to the court and introduced him to this fake bride Poonam Pandey. After this, these people asked for 1.5 lakh rupees from Shankar. During this, Shankar Upadhyay got suspicious and he asked for Aadhar card from the bride Poonam and Sanjana who came as her mother. I got suspicious after seeing their behavior. They were trying to cheat me. When I refused to marry, they threatened to kill me. Then I said that I need time to think and left from there.

In this case, Banda's Additional Superintendent of Police Shivraj said that a complaint of fraud in the name of marriage was received. We immediately alerted our team and arrested four people. Among them are two women, who used to lure unmarried youths into marriage and then steal money and jewelry from their house and run away.
