One of Bollywoods most iconic villains Shakti Kapoor has earned love for his comic timing in films like Andaz Apna Apna Raja Babu and Main Khiladi Tu Anari. In 2011 he ventured into reality TV participating in the fifth season of Bigg Boss. However unlike many contestants who aim to win Shakti had a different goal in mind - he joined to prove something to his children Shraddha Kapoor and Siddhant Kapoor.
During the shows premiere Shakti revealed it was Shraddha who encouraged him to participate. He spent 28 days in the Bigg Boss house before becoming the fifth contestant to be evicted. Reflecting on his time in the house the actor told Rediff.com that his main reason for joining wasn’t victory but to demonstrate to his kids that he could abstain from alcohol for an entire month. I was not there to win but to prove to my children that I can stay away from alcohol for a month. I am proud that I could do that” he shared. He also added how this achievement strengthened his bond with his children. “Shraddha was so happy that she even said she would want to be born as my daughter in her next life” he said.
Shakti Kapoors stint in the Bigg Boss house didn’t just earn praise from his kids. His wife Shivangi Kapoor was equally proud. In the same interview he recounted a heartwarming moment with her after his eviction. “My wife told me she loves me more than ever for the way I conducted myself on the show. She’s so proud of me. I even told her that we’ll go for another honeymoon soon” the actor recalled.
Kapoors calm and composed behavior as captain of the house where he ensured no major conflicts arose further underscored his transformation during the show. Though he didn’t win Bigg Boss 5 the actor achieved something far more personal -- he won the hearts of his family.
