Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) Mundra has welcomed the first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) powered container vessel CMA CGM Fort Diamant to dock at the port's Container Terminal-CT4, the 268 meter length, APSEZ said in its statement. And this 43 meter wide ship is the third in the series of LNG-powered ships with a capacity of 7,000 containers. Let us tell you that by operating on CIMEX2K/AS-1 service, it connects the Indian subcontinent with China, which makes India stronger in terms of business.
Adani Port said that the easy berthing of the ship at Mundra Port underlines Adani Ports' commitment to innovation, sustainability and efficient operations. Adani's Mundra Port is India's largest port and the flagship port of APSEZ. It is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure to handle vessels up to a depth of 21 metres, featuring strong connectivity through highways, rail corridors and dedicated freight corridors (DFC).
The adoption of LNG as a fuel source reflects the shipping industry's ongoing commitment to reducing carbon emissions. Ships powered by LNG provide a clean, green alternative to traditional marine fuels. Mundra Port has previously hosted some of the largest container ships to dock in India, including MSC Anna and APL Raffles, establishing itself as a major container hub in South Asia.
The group said the historic arrival is a testament to Adani Ports' leading role in pursuing sustainable practices and modernizing logistics infrastructure to meet the evolving demands of global trade. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) is India's largest commercial port operator, responsible for approximately one-fourth of cargo movement in the country. It has presence at 13 domestic ports in the seven maritime states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Odisha.
According to Adani Port, the port facilities are equipped with the latest cargo-handling infrastructure that is not only best-in-class, but also capable of handling the largest vessels calling on Indian shores. Ports are equipped to handle a variety of cargo, ranging from dry cargo, liquid cargo, crude to containers. APSEZ, through its subsidiary Adani Logistics Limited, also operates three logistics parks located at Patli in Haryana, Kila-Raipur in Punjab and Kishangarh in Rajasthan.
