Allu Arjun’s film Pushpa 2 is taking the box office by storm breaking records and earning ₹1000 crore worldwide within just a week. While Pushpa 2 has captivated audiences one classic film continues to hold its place as one of the most beloved and re-watched movies in Indian cinema.

This iconic film featuring legendary stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Amjad Khan and Sanjeev Kumar remains an evergreen masterpiece cherished by audiences even decades after its release.

Yes we’re talking about Sholay a film that redefined success and continues to be one of the most watched movies of all time. Directed by Ramesh Sippy, Sholay was a blockbuster of its era though many might be surprised to learn that it wasn’t an instant hit.

Released on August 15, 1975 the film is now nearing six decades since its debut. Yet every scene dialogue song and character of Sholay remains etched in the hearts of audiences.

The journey from mixed reviews to legendary status

Initially, Sholay received a lukewarm response at the box office and critics were quick to express their disapproval. However its unforgettable characters and iconic dialogues eventually won over audiences drawing them to theaters.

The film’s popularity extended far beyond India. In Russia alone Sholay sold 6 crore tickets and its success reached Europe, North America and the Middle East. Globally, Sholay amassed a staggering 25 crore ticket sales a feat unmatched even by modern blockbusters like Baahubali 2 and RRR.
