When Manmohan became Chief Economic Advisor

In the year 1972, Manmohan Singh was made the Chief Economic Advisor of the country. Before that he was a professor at Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University. This was the period when Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister of the country. He chose Manmohan Singh as the country's economic advisor. There was an important reason for this. Before that, Manmohan Singh had worked in UNCTAD. Recognizing Singh's talent as an economist, he was then appointed as an advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Trade by Lalit Narayan Mishra. Whose talent was seen by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and made him the Chief Economic Advisor of the country.

From 1980 to 1982, he worked in the Planning Commission.

After that, Manmohan Singh was also made the Governor of Reserve Bank of India on the basis of his talent and economic acumen. It can be said that he is the first and only Prime Minister of the country, whose signature also appears on the country's currency notes. In 1982, he was appointed Governor of RBI under the then Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and held the post till 1985. It is said that while holding the post of RBI, his relations with the then Prime Minister of the country Indira Gandhi had deteriorated.

Finance Minister of the country

After 1985, he worked on many posts from Planning Commission to UGC. But by the year 1991, many changes had taken place in the country, from politics to economy. The Prime Minister of the country was PV Narasimha Rao. Who were running the coalition government at that time. The economic condition of the country was very bad. In such a situation, PV Narasimha Rao handed over the reins of the country's economy and finance to Manmohan Singh. In June 1991, Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao chose Manmohan Singh as Finance Minister. After that, the whole country saw the impact of the liberalization that he started in the country.
