A Surge in Indian Startups: The number of recognised startups by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) in the country has increased to 157066 the central government told on Wednesday. As per Ministry of Commerce and Industry currently there are more than 73000 startups in the country with at least one-woman director recognised under the Startup India Initiative. It is almost half of the 157066 government-supported startups.
