The pockets of car and bike drivers in Maharashtra may become lighter now, because vehicle owners will have to pay a price of Rs 531 to Rs 879 to install high-security number plates (HSRP) in vehicles registered before April 1, 2019. Maharashtra Transport Department has given this information. The payment link of the Transport Department has become active from Wednesday. This price includes the cost of the snap lock of the number plate and GST. The cost of installing HSRP for two-wheelers like tractors and motorcycles and scooters will be Rs 531, Rs 590 for three-wheelers like auto-rickshaws, and Rs 879 for large vehicles like cars, buses, trucks, tankers, tempos, and trailers.
To install high-security number plates in old vehicles registered before April 2019, the State Transport Department has provided the facility of 'appointment' on the webpage of its website.
What is the HSRP number?
High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP) is a vehicle license plate designed to be tamper-proof and difficult to duplicate. HSRP plates contain a unique identification number, hologram, and registration number. This number plate is made of durable material like aluminum and has a hot-stamped alpha-numeric code.
What will be the new rates?
Maharashtra Transport Department has also mentioned HSRP rates for different types of vehicles on the website. GST will also be levied on these at the rate of 18 percent. Each HSRP plate of size 200 mm x 100 mm and 285 mm x 45 mm for two-wheelers and three-wheelers will cost Rs 219.9. At the same time, the plates of 500 mm x 120 mm and 340 mm x 200 mm size for four or more wheelers will cost Rs 342.41.
The cost of snap lock and third registration mark for all types of vehicles, excluding GST, will be Rs 10.18 and Rs 50 respectively. The GST share for applying HSRP will be Rs 81 for two-wheelers and tractors, Rs 90 for three-wheelers, and Rs 134.10 for four or more wheelers. Old vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, will also have HSRP applied on the front and rear and a registration mark sticker will also be applied on their windshields.
