The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made another crucial announcement regarding UAN activation. Employees now have additional time to activate their Universal Account Numbers (UAN) and link their Aadhaar with bank accounts to qualify for benefits under the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme.
Initially, the deadline was November 30, 2024. It was first pushed to December 15, 2024, and now has been extended further to January 15, 2025. This move ensures that more employees can complete the necessary steps to access the financial benefits offered under the ELI program.
The activation of UAN and linking it with Aadhaar and bank accounts is a fundamental requirement to access the advantages of the government’s ELI scheme. The ELI scheme, introduced to boost employment and assist workers, is managed by EPFO and offers monetary rewards to eligible employees.
During the Union Budget 2024, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced three categories under the ELI scheme: Scheme A, Scheme B, and Scheme C. Employers have been advised to help their employees activate UAN to ensure they can claim their benefits.
However, a significant number of employees have yet to complete the process, prompting this further extension.
These schemes are designed to provide additional financial benefits based on specific employment conditions. Employees are advised to contact their employers or EPFO for precise details.
To complete UAN activation and become eligible for ELI scheme benefits, follow these instructions:
Visit the Official EPFO Website:
Go to the EPFO portal and click on the UAN activation link.
Input Required Details:
Enter your Universal Account Number, Aadhaar number, and registered mobile number.
Verify OTP:
An OTP will be sent to your mobile. Use it to authenticate your information.
Set Your Password:
Create a secure password to finalize your UAN activation.
Link Bank Account:
Log in with your activated UAN and link your bank account details to complete the process.
The additional time provides employees with an opportunity to ensure their UAN activation and Aadhaar linkage, which are mandatory for receiving financial incentives under the ELI scheme. Without these steps, employees cannot access the ₹15,000 reward for first-time workers or other scheme benefits.
Employees should act quickly to complete the UAN activation process to avoid missing out on the advantages of the ELI scheme. For further guidance or assistance, visit the EPFO portal or reach out to your employer.
